Music: Sergei Prokofiev

Since then the duet has been featured in Ballet22’s digital Spring Gala 2021, and performed live for the San Jose Movement Festival. We are excited to bring His Romeo back to the stage, which celebrates queer love and the universal themes of tragic love that makes the story of Romeo and Juliet an enduring classic.

Ballet22 is excited to present this world premiere by Cristina Alejandra Piñero Torres, created specifically on the bodies, strengths, and personalities of the Ballet22 artists. Dancer: Evan Ambrose

Cellist: Sophia Bacelar

Sophia Bacelar returns for a robust interpretation of Piazzolla’s Oblivion, where she will be joined by Ballet22 artist, Evan Ambrose. Choreographed in collaboration, Evan Ambrose and Theresa Knudson created this solo to bring physicality to the oozing and dramatic dynamics of Sophia’s brilliant playing.

Heartbeats

Original Music: Davide Occhipinti

Choreography by: Myles Thatcher

Dancers: Ismael Alvarez Acosta, David Calhoun, Duane Gosa, Carlos Hopuy, Roberto Vega Ortiz, Trevor Williams

Inspired by the safe spaces & community that queer clubs create, along with the absence that was felt from the closure of these spaces during the height of the pandemic, renowned choreographer and soloist of San Francisco Ballet, Myles Thatcher created Heartbeats for Ballet22 in June, 2021. The music was composed for this ballet by San Francisco Ballet dancer, Davide Occhipinti.
