Lucas Ataide
Lucas Ataide was born in Mogi Guaçu (São Paulo, Brazil) and completed his training at the Conservatório Brasileiro de Dança in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2010, Lucas joined the Cia Brasileira de Ballet (Brazilian Ballet Company) under the direction of Jorge Teixeira and Tadheo de Carvalho, where he performed full-length ballets including Don Quixote, Giselle, Swan Lake, La Bayadere, Raymonda, The Magic Flute, La Sylphide and The Nutcracker. He also performed new contemporary and neoclassical works by resident and invited choreographers. Ataide participated in dance festivals such as the Festival de Dança de Joinville and toured internationally in Israel, Colombia and China.
Lucas joined the Montgomery Ballet in 2013 under the direction of Darren McYintire, performing several classical and contemporary pieces. In 2015, he joined City Ballet of San Diego under the artistic direction of Steven and Elizabeth Wistrich. His roles have included Basilio in Don Quixote, Cavalier in The Nutcracker, Don Jose in Carmen and featured roles in George Balanchine's Rubies, The Four Temperaments, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Walpurgisnacht Ballet, Serenade and Peter Martin’s Hallelujah Junction and Ash.
Ataide has performed as a guest artist with The Albany Berkshire Ballet, Charleston Ballet Theatre, Dance Canvas of Atlanta, Boca Ballet Theatre, Twin Cities Ballet, Hinsdale Ballet Theatre and Western Chicago Ballet.
