Houston Thomas

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Houston's dance journey began with the Joffrey Ballet Outreach Program, later studied at the Joffrey Ballet Academy of Dance and the Chicago High School for the Arts. After training at the School of American Ballet, he joined the Dresden Semperoper Ballett, rising to second soloist during his ten years with the company. His performances in works by George Balanchine, Sir Frederick Ashton, William Forsythe, and others earned him acclaim, including a nomination for "Best Male Performance" at the Dance Europe Critic Choice Awards.

Houston premiered his first work, "Moonlit Variants," for the Semperoper Ballet Young Choreographers in 2018. Houston has since then created works for The Washington Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, ABT Studio Company, New York Choreographic Institute, Ballet San Antonio, Joffrey Ballet Studio Company, Hamptons Dance Project, and The Juilliard School.

In 2022, his piece "Follow the White Rabbit" won at the Young Emergent Choreographers Contest. in Biarritz, France, earning him a commission for "SKYWATCHER" at the Opera National de Bordeaux.
