Cristina Alejandra Piñero Torres

Born and raised in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico Cristina Alejandra Piñero Torres is a NYC based dancer who was exposed to art at a very young age. She draws inspiration from her father, Pijuan Piñero, a prominent puerto rican composer and pianist.

At the age of 10 she started training in puerto rican folk bomba, plena, rumba and salsa. Cristina attended a Fine Arts School in Humacao, PR for six years where she integrated dance into her academic schedule. While in the dance department she trained in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, folk, modern and flamenco. Cristina has a bachelors degree in International Business from the University of Puerto Rico. 

In 2013 she joined a scholarship program at School for the Performing Arts under the direction of Waldo Gonzalez, where she further trained as a professional dancer in modern, contemporary, ballet, point and jazz leading her to a year later, joining the contemporary company Dramadanza. With this company she booked her first big role as Carmen in Carmen by Ramon Oller that toured nationally in Puerto Rico 2015-16. 


In 2017 Cristina moved to New York where she studied at Peridance Capezio Center Intensive Semester. While in the program Cristina joined two contemporary dance companies: Urban Tribe directed by Mathew James and De Funes Dance Company Co under the artistic direction of Diego Funes. Soon after after completion of the program she joined Shinsa The Collective directed by Bo Park. She performed with this companies    In several occasion such as: Baltimore Dance Invitational, Bryant Park Contemporary Dance Festival, Love Ball NYC, Elements XIX, among others. 

In 2019 she started touring with different artists: Bad Bunny X100PRE tour, Manuel Turizo ADN tour and Becky G Mala Santa tour (2020). Other stage performances credits include J Balvin, Luis Fonsi, Ozuna, Lunay, among others. 

In 2021 Cristina Alejandra choreograph and perform on Wisin music video “Playita” and was part of the cast of Daddy Yankee’s “Métele al Perreo” choreograph by Greg Chapkis. Other music videos credits include Rauw Alejandro, Jhay Cortez, Farina, among others. Cristina Alejandra it’s currently touring with Wisin, she has choreograph a couple of numbers for the show as well. Cristina Alejandra staged Ramón Oller’s Carmen on Ballet22 in September 2020.

She’s currently based in NYC, but often travels to different destinations to teach, choreograph or perform.  She is very passionate about learning, believing that there’s always room for growth. A quote from her father that always sticks with her is, “Always feel proud of two things that you don’t choose but are given to you: your parents and your land” A reminder to stay grounded and remember where you come from.
